SEASON ENDS IN SHOTWELL
November 22
Odessa High put
points on the board in the first half on field goals of 33 and 38
yards by Travis Austin, a 10-yard TD run by Derrick Teegarden, and a
47-yard rushing touchdown by Bradley Marquez. The Bronchos had
collected 20 points, while holding the Arlington Colts to a
touchdown. Arlington closed the gap to 20-14 in the third
quarter, but Marquez's 8-yard TD run had the OHS back up to a 13
point lead to end the quarter. The Colts peeled off six
minutes of clock in the fourth quarter on a 14-play, 80-yard scoring
drive. On the next possession, Odessa High would fumble the
ball away while approaching the red zone. Arlington High took
the ball from the OHS 23 and marched down the field and scored with
less than a minute to play in the game. Tyler McQueen returned
the ensuing kickoff to the 36 and a 5-yard penalty put the ball at
the OHS 41. A little trickery came when Teegarden lateraled to
Marquez in the flat and then Marquez threw the ball back to
Teegarden, who had five linemen waiting to escort him to the Colt 16
with six seconds left to play. Austin came in to kick the
potential game-winning 33-yarder. The kick was against the
wind and sailed just left. Arlington escaped Shotwell Stadium
with a 28-27 win and OHS's season has ended.
